Mera Peak climbing (6,654m) is one another popular peaks for climbing located in the Everest region, primarily at the south of Mt. Everest. It is one of the frequently organized peak climbing trips by Mount Fuji Adventure team. This peak is said that the team of Col. Jimmy Roberts and Sen Tenzing for the first time had made successful summit along the Everest base camp route in 1953. The regions is said to have explored extensively by British expeditions in the early 50's. This peak is considered to be one of the challenging peaks for climbing, since it is a bit straightforward peak, however you can have such awesome views from this peak especially of mountains including of Mt. Everest that you hardly see from other areas. As Mera peak climbing is combined together with trekking to Everest base camp trekking, you will go through various Sherpa ethnic groups settlements, you will pass numerous of Buddhists monasteries and many more. Therefore, you will have an opportunity to explore yet unexplored areas in the Everest region and have the outstanding scenic views of Mt. Everest (8848m), Mt. Lhotse (8516m), Mt. Kanchenjunga (8586m), Mt. Makalu (8463m),Mt. Cho Oyu (8201m) and other mountains lying along the Everest region. The trekking or Mera peak climbing begins with direct flight from Kathmandu to Phaplu or Lukla or Tumlingtar and follows the classic trail to this particular peak and making excursion around, you will return back along the same route to Kathmandu.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m)
As soon as you land at the Tribhuvan International Airport, you will complete the visa formalities after which you will be escorted by our representative to the luxury hotel where you will enjoy the welcome dinner and stay overnight in a hotel in Kathmandu. You will be briefed about Island Peak Climbing package by our team leader. You will also meet with other trekking members.

Day02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu
You will be given half day guided city tour of UNESCO Heritage at Kathmandu by our licensed trekking guide. The tour starts with visit to the most respected Hindu Temple at Pashupatinath. You will also visit Nepal’s largest Buddha Monastery of Bauddhanath, world’s oldest stupa of Swayambhu and you will enjoy the sight of medieval palaces, courtyards and alleys at Kathmandu Durbar Square. Returning back to the hotel, the trekking gears would be checked by climbing leader.   

Day03: Kathmandu to Lukla flight, Trek to Paiya (Chutok) (2730m), 4hrs
Leaving the hotel, we will leave for Kathmandu Airport from where we will take 40minutes of breathtaking flight through one of the most beautiful air routes in the world to Tenzing Hilary Airport in Lukla. We can get views of Gaurishankar, Langtang, Lhotse, Nuptse and other mountains throughout our flight. Mera Peak Climb begins from Lukla. We will leave main route and head south to Surke. Crosiing the river, we will reach Chutok La from where we can reach Paiya in about an hour. We can get views of Kongde Ri, Tang Ragi Tu and other peaks from Paiya.    

Day04: Trek to Pangkoma (2850m), 6hrs
We will leave Paiya village and cross the wooden bridge from where the terrain shifts to the meadow. We will reach the base of Kari La Pass. Short climb of Karila Pass will take us to the top from where we will lower down through rhododendron forest. We will enjoy the views of Dudh Koshi Valley and Dudh Kunda Mountain before arriving at Pangkoma Village.

Day05: Trek to Nigmsa (Shibuche) (2745m), 5hrs
We need to walk through the crop field of Pangkoma village before heading to the forest. Walking further, we will walk past Mani wall and take the steep climb to the ridge top from where we can get the view of southern face of Mera Peak. We will lower down to Nigmsa (Shibuche) where we will stay overnight.

Day06: Trek to Chetrakhola (3150m), 8hrs
The trail tapers down through the forest of rhododendron and bamboo. Brief descend will take us to the landslide area. Cautious walk through the loandslide area will take us to the river. The trail escalates uphill and stretches along the cave to Chetra Khola. 

Day07: Trek to Kothe (3600m), 7hrs
Today’s trail takes us above the Hinku Valley to the ridge which offers unmatched views of Mera peak and Hinku Valley. The path drops down through the bamboo and pine forest to Tashing Dingma. Brief walk along tea houses will take us to Kothe where we will stay overnight.

Day08: Trek to Thagnag (4350m), 4hrs
Brief climb through Hinku Khola Valley will take us to Gondishung which is the summer settlement of local cattle herds. We will pay our visit to Lungsumgba Monastery which lies in Gondishung and walk further to the meadow inThagnag where we will stay overnight.

Day09: Acclimation Day at Thagnag
It is the rest day. We will take 3hrs of brief trek to Charpate Himal Glacier which is highly revered mountain in Sherpa community. We can enjoy the great view of Mera North from Charpate Glacier before returning to Base Camp in Thagnag.

Day10: Trek to Khare (5045m), 3hrs
We will leave Thagnag and walk through the moraine of Dig glacier to Dig Kharka. We will enjoy close-up view of Charpate glacier before climbing through Hinku Nup and Shar Glaciers to Khare. We will stay overnight at Khare which offers view of Northern face of Mera Peak.

Day11: Trek to Mera Base Camp (5300m), 4hrs
We will walk through boulder valley to Mera Base Camp. We will arrive at Mera Base Camp in late afternoon. The remaining time will be used to practice in climbing Mera Peak. The Climbing leader will give useful tips on climbing Mera peak. We will stay overnight at the Base Camp of Mera Peak.

Day12: Trek to High Camp (5780m), 5hrs
5hours of difficult climb through the slope will be enough to reach Mera Peak High camp. The camp will be set up by Sherpas nearby the glaciate lake. We will enjoy views of Mount Everest, Cho Oyu, Chamlang, Baruntse, southern face of Lhotse and other peaks.

Day13: Trek to Summit (6461m) Back to Base Camp (5300m), 7hrs
This is the day that we all had been anxiously waiting for. We will begin our journey before sunrise and take difficult climb to the Mera Peak summit from where we will enjoy views of Mount Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Nuptse, Kanchanjunga, Makalu, Baruntse, Amadablam and other mountains and peaks. Later, we will descend to Mera Peak Base Camp.

Day14: Spare Day
This is the spare day which will ensure that our schedule will not be affected even if we face obstacles like bad weather or if some of our crew member falls ill. We will make proper disposal of the garbage made in base camp.
We will then begin our return trip. The trail lowers down for about 4hrs through the moraine valley to Khare where we will stay overnight.

Day15: Trek to Kothe (3600m), 5hrs
Return trip begins on the 15th day. We will take sharp descend to Hinku Valley and walk further to Kothe where we will stay overnight.

Day16: Trek to Thuli Kharka 6hrs
The trail drops down for about an hour. We will move to the western edge of Hinku Valley. And reach the top of ridge in about 2hrs from where we will enjoy the close-up view of Mera peak. We will continue our journey to Thuli Kharka from which offers panoramic view of entire Mera Peak Range.

Day17: Trek to Lukla
2hrs of walk will take us to Zatrwa La pass. We will climb the pass and enjoy the views of Lukla valley, Cho Oyu, Numbur Mountain and other peaks and mountains before choosing the descending trail to Chutanga. We will follow the easy trail from Chutagna to Lukla.

Day18: Fly back to Kathmandu
An early morning flight of 40minutes will take us to Kathmandu. You can spend the day as you like. Either explore Kathmandu or go for shopping in Thamel. Farewell dinner will be served in the evening. 

Day19: Departure
This is the end day of Mera Peak Climbing package. You will be assisted in last moment preparation and taken to TIA from where you will board the plane back to your home.
